PADI Deep Diver
Discover what lies beyond the standard limits.
A wreck resting just below 30 metres, a wall that keeps dropping away, geological formations few ever see: the Deep Diver specialty gives you the focused training to explore safely down to the limits of recreational diving.
What you'll learn
How to plan and carry out deep dives, manage your gas at greater depth, recognise and manage nitrogen narcosis, keep buoyancy under control at depth and know your personal limits. You'll also cover the equipment considerations specific to these dives.
Course structure
- Theory (eLearning): planning, procedures, risks and tables for deep dives.
- 4 open water dives with your instructor, with the deepest dive done first, from a minimum of 18–30 metres down to a maximum of 40 metres.
The course is usually completed in 2 days.
Prerequisites
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or Adventure Diver with the Deep Adventure Dive) or equivalent. The Enriched Air specialty is also recommended.
What's next
You can dive to 40 metres, the limit of recreational diving, with access to wrecks and sites otherwise out of reach. This certification also counts towards Master Scuba Diver.
