What you'll learn

How to plan and manage a drift dive, keep your buoyancy under control while moving, stay close to your buddy or group, communicate with the support boat, and use drift-specific equipment such as a surface marker buoy (SMB), line and reel.

Course structure

Theory (eLearning): procedures and techniques specific to drift diving.
2 open water dives in current, to practise all the techniques you've learned.

The course is usually completed in 1 day.

Prerequisites

PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent.

What's next

Safe, lower-effort access to drift dives — ideal for destinations such as the Maldives, the Red Sea or the Caribbean. This certification also counts towards Master Scuba Diver.
