Bundles

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver + Deep Diver

Take your diving experience to a higher level.

This bundle combines the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course with the PADI Deep Diver specialty, creating a progressive pathway for divers who want to gain more experience, improve their skills and learn to plan and carry out deep dives safely and with awareness. At the end you'll earn two PADI certifications: Advanced Open Water Diver and Deep Diver, extending your training to recreational dives at 40 metres.

What you'll learn

In Advanced Open Water Diver you'll build on the skills from Open Water through five Adventure Dives, each dedicated to a different aspect of diving. Two are core: the Deep Adventure Dive and the Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive; the other three let you explore further activities and techniques.

With the Deep Diver specialty you'll focus on the techniques needed for dives beyond 18 metres: planning, buoyancy control at depth, gas management, and recognising and managing the effects of narcosis. Particular attention is paid to safety procedures, buddy communication and managing the dive at depth.

Once you've completed the full pathway, you'll have the training needed for recreational dives to 40 metres, always within your personal limits, environmental conditions and applicable regulations.

Course structure

  • Theory (PADI eLearning): content for both Advanced Open Water Diver and Deep Diver, with a focus on planning and procedures for deep dives.
  • Advanced Open Water Diver: 5 Adventure Dives, with Deep and Underwater Navigation compulsory plus three electives.
  • Deep Diver: 4 deep training dives to progressively develop planning, descent, buoyancy control, gas management and safety.
  • Integrated pathway: the Deep Adventure Dive from the Advanced course can count as the first dive of the Deep Diver specialty when conducted to the required standard. The pathway is organised progressively to avoid duplication.

Overall length depends on dive scheduling, environmental conditions and your progress.

Prerequisites

  • PADI Open Water Diver or a recognised equivalent; no minimum number of dives after Open Water is required.
  • Compliance with PADI medical and fitness-to-dive requirements.
